If I remember correctly when I rebuilt my Cub the IH parts man said torque on the head bolts is 70 pounds. That's what I put mine at anyways. I would recoomend anytime you rebuild/remove the head to replace the head bolts. That's one reason my Cub blew a head gasket. If the threads are old they will not hold torque to specs. Anyways I feel 45 pounds is way to loose. The copper gasket sealer is a must if you ask me, it's a cheap way to hold the gasket and head in place while torquing and it ensures a good seal. Just my 2 cents. Bill {Antique Acres}
