Stuck MD

I bought an MD at auction a few years ago, mainly because it was a diesel and had the single front wheel, which was kind of different. I've been working on other projects and it's just been sitting, but I have had the cylinders soaking the whole time. Everyone I talk to says the head is probably cracked and that they crack between the valves. I'll assume the worse, can they be repaired reliably? If not what am I looking at to pay for a good used head? I'm getting near to starting on it, should be a fun project as I've never worked on one before, they sure are an interesting set-up. Jim
