Okay so I took every ones advice. I went and got everything to make up 1 gauge battery cables. And wow it made a big difference. Tractor turned over a lot faster and tried starting a lot better. I still got the gas coming out of the carb but didn't seem as bad this time. when I went to adjust the idle screw to see if it would help it fire and keep running I let off the starter switch. I went and backed the screw out 2 turns. (it was not out that far to begin with) When I came back and hit the button to start it the starter made a clattering noise. it is spinning couse I can see it sparking off the brushes but it isn't turning the fly wheel. I took it off and tested it with it off the tractor and it spins freely. put it back on but it just clatters and no spin of the flywheel. I turned the hand crank to make sure the motor wasn't locked and it spins freely and can see fly wheel turning.
Is the starter now fried or am I missing something. I did use a 12 volt battery but I was told as long as I didn't crank it for a long period it would be fine. I didn't crank it for than 10 to 15 sec at a time. thanks for any help in advance.
Can we post videos on here if so I will take one and show you what its doing so you can see and hear it.
