Been quite a day. My wife managed to surprise again. I checked out the 1066 and all looked well from the outside. Paint was very good, engine (414) fired right up, but there were a few concerns I had. First this tractor did not have TA. Not sure why, I assumed this model came with it from the factory. Second I had trouble getting it to shift into reverse. The linkage was super smooth but it took forever to get into reverse. After driving for a bit I shut it down to check the fluids. This brought up my biggest worry. The hydraulic fluid had a milky look to it. Would this be caused by water in the system? I wanted to think about it and when we got into the car my wife showed me pics of another 1066 with a cab! He was asking $9,500 for it but she had him down to $8,500 (same as the other one). So it was off to a new farm. Here's the scoop on this one: Just refinished with a great paint job, 414(not hydro), Tested the TA and worked great (Thanks JohnIH!), dual PTO, All fluids looked good including the Hytran, All guages worked, wheel weights, front 100% and rear 75%, cab A/C worked super, all cab components operated fine, and he will deliver it. He is the second owner and there is a little over 2,000 hrs on his engine rebuild All-in-all this thing was sweet. What do ya think? Being a cheap man he's giving me the day to think it over. Is there anything else I should have looked at?
