I have a 1949 8N... It's started having a couple issues and I'm not having much luck in resolving. It started having issues, as if it wasn't getting spark or fuel and would run extremely rough. I didn't figure the carb was the issue, and more in an electrical problem. I replaced the points and the tractor ran great for a few times...approximately 4-5 hours. Then it returned to the same issue. Each time I took the front mount distributor off, checked points, etc, and replaced it fixed the problem temporarily. After doing this about 15 times, and seemingly it not correct the problem every time, I went ahead and replaced the carb. It ran great for about a week, then started again. The carb seemed to be loading up the engine, and then it'd start missing again. Let the tractor set a week, and it started up and ran fine with no issues. It started doing it again...I checked the points, put on a new alternator, as converted to 12v, and it's starting to run better...however, It still seems that it's having issues. Any ideas would be helpful. I have replaced the resister between switch and coil, and the coil is only bout a year old.
I'm still tinkering with it to find the source of the problem, but not sure what else to check or replace?? Hit me with an idea!
