Any one ever have a mix up in converting filter numbers? How far did the store or dealer that made the mix up go to help out with mix up?
Neighbor is in a fine mess right now, something I have never herd of. A local short line and planter dealer has been selling Baldwin filters for years. Neighbor this winter went with his list of numbers he has used for years for his fleet of tractors. They didn't have one of the hydraulic filters in stock. Local Napa store had closed down and they are now a Napa dealer. They got the Napa book out, crossed the Baldwin filter number over to Napa number and gave him the Napa filter book said. Put it on and fed hay a few days later, arms were a little slow. Called the mechanic at the short line dealer and he said it must have got'n a little air in the system and would work it's self out. Fed hay a few more times, arms still a little slow but not bad. Disked with it a few hours, didn't notice any thing. Started planting corn, 12 row drill wouldn't hardly come up, had to stop before turning to let it raise. Called local Ford dealer and mechanic there asked if he was sure it was right filter. Gave him the Napa number and he said that it didn't match. Went back to short line dealer he bought the filter from and they got to lookiing in the books and on line. The Napa book they had was wrong, he had been use'n the wrong filter with the valve go'n the wrong way and had starved his pump. Pump is now putting out 800psi less than factory spec and even with the right filter on it's not pick'n the planter up like it should. Dealer is try'n to work with Napa to help him out with it but Napa is not wanting to admit their book is wrong.
So, with all that said, any one else ever seen any thing like this happen and how did it turn out?

Today's Featured Article - Third Brush Generators - by Chris Pratt. While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery. I have picked up and attempted to read every auto and farm electrics book with no improvement in the situation. They all seem to start with a chapter entitled "Theory of Electricity". After a few paragraphs I usually close the book and go back to banging out dents. A good friend and I were recently discussing our tractor electrical systems when he stated "I figure it all comes back to applying Ohms Law". At this point
