I posted earlier and got some great information but wanted to ask a few other questions. I have been using a Ford 601 for several years with back plows. It was very difficult to learn how to plow, on curved/tilted row, with only a few inches of extra space between the crops and the plow. I was taught by an old farmer and finally got the hang of it after several months. I would still prefer to use a front cultivation plows, with back plows behind the rear wheels like the Farmalls are set up. I think it would give me better control and accuracy, but I still need a higher clearance tractor. I am limited on the number to times I can plow peppers and eggplants before they get too tall and the weeds take over if not pushed plowed. What I need is a higher hp(45-70) tractor with a high clearance and front cultivators, without tricycle tires. An all in one tractor would be fine or two tractors would work as well, too keep soil compaction to a min. Here are the questions I have:
1. The Clearance on the Farmall AV, JD 900HC, Ford 701, 501, and 901 are all around 28 inches, which only gives me a 6 inch gain. Are there any models out there that would give a greater ground clearance and allow for front plows that are not rare or collectors items, which are out of my price range?
2. How helpful would it be on soil compaction to use only a Farmall to cultivate once the larger tractor has fixed the fields?
3. Can the Farmall A or AV or any other tractor be modified with larger wheels and front wheel extensions that are for sale to go beyond the 21 inches of clearance for the A and 27.5 for the AV and others?
