Cummins Engine specifies a max. sulfur content of 0.5pct. so their engines can already operate within the proposed limit. I've got 84K miles on mine averaging 21mpg hwy/city combined; and 12.5 towing 10K lb fifth wheel RV 6K miles. The big gas engines are quite good for towing, they just aren't designed to last for 300K miles like the diesel. The bottom line- get the best deal you can swing irregardless of brand or engine type that meets your needs and operating costs. I drive a '98 Dodge Cummins because I bought it for $15,800 from a guy who was about to lose it.
