300,000 miles on the diesel may be the norm, but I sincerely doubt the truck body will last that long. My 1989 1 ton w/454 gas gets 13 mpg not loaded and about 10 mpg loaded, I have 165,000 miles on it and am always working on something, front end alignment, tires, brakes, brake booster, radiator, it goes on and on. The good thing is that I spend about $100 per month on maintenance and you can't touch a new truck payment for under $500. I am self employeed and work out of my truck everyday and spend about 1/4 the time pulling 7000 lbs. worth of trailer. The bottom line for me is to put the most amount of dollars in MY pocket, not line the pockets of cummins, ford, chevrolet, etc. Most of my friends that have these monster trucks don't even begin to use them to their full potential, a ford 9n don't take a 300 horsepower truck to pull once a month down to the fair grounds. O.K. Rant complete.
