Hi Bernhard, Sounds like the IHC you have is a good machine. I've heard that about them here, too. There are some powerful tractors in your neighborhood. There are still some big farm tractors around here with 75 - 150 hp tractors, but most of the farmers have sold out to developers who have filled the land with houses on lots of less than an acre. That means many lawn tractors of less than 25 hp. We have about 25 acres here. I think that is about 10 hectares. We have had a John Deere 1020 of about 38 hp for more than 20 years now, over that time most of its work was hay baling, raking, cutting and so on. Our big old JD 60 is a sentimental machine - my Grand Dad's era -- but it still does some work. Our other JD is a lawn tractor which does a great job of getting rid of leaves in the Fall. I guess I could replace them all with something like the JD 5310 or Massey 4315 you mention, and buy it on credit. Maybe a toy, we've never made any profit from hay baling or livestock or the few years we've planted some corn and beans... but it sure is better than living on a place where the neighbors are 10 meters away. At least I have never gotten any death treats from the wife. I'm old enough that the walk behinds are a kind of torture. I'll till the garden with the John Deere's! I think you have a lot more brands of tractors to choose from than we do. The practical choices here are only 4 or 5 brands. I'm excluding CaseIH because the nearest dealer is 40 some miles away. John Deere's are generally more expensive, but we pay it because the dealer is so close, and 4 generations now on my Father's side of the family have owned John Deeres. There's no Ursus, Zetor, or Belarus dealer within 50 to 100 miles.. or you'd probably have to, go 500 miles for a Chinese brand of tractor. I've been to Koln and can understand why there are tourists there. I've also been to Swabia, and never thought of it as a tourist spot unless it's the Swabish Alps or the Allgau. Unimog is Daimler Benz, I think. So I understand why they're expensive. The Lanz and the Hanomag collector tractors... I guess the collectors in Germany get just as crazy as they do here. Steve
