Hi Steve,

my IHC is called "McCormick-International D 624 S"
D is for "Diesel" S for "Schnellgang" (fastgear).
It rans over 20mph, and has 58 HP/pto. It is a newer Design like the Mahindras, which looked like the first D- range. I had two of them a D 326 and a D217.

The reason, why Swabia is so expensive, is because of a lot tourists from foreign countries spent their Holidays there. You can see that also in Cologne, 2o miles away from me.

The swabian cars are only Mercedes and Porsche.
Audi and BMW are built in Bavaria.

Price of Porsche tractors has nothing to do with the cars. Expensivst tractor in Germany are the older Lanz-Bulldogs and the Hanomag R-range like R 40, 45 or ATK.

For a Bulldog they call up till 40000 $, it is fully restored at that price.

Nothing again taking credit for buying a tractor, if You need it for work, to earn money with it.
But only as a big Toy? My wife loves me, really.
I believe she wuld kill me, as I do so.

Tractor prices in Germany: They say 400-500 Euro/HP, appr. 800-1000 DM.

For example: A JD 5310 fwd cost up from 26000 Euro(52000,--DM) A MF 4315 fwd 24900Euro and more, A Fendt 250 SA 32200 Euro, A Deutz-Fahr Agrotron 22100 Euro, the Belarus MTS 570 13000,-- Euro
and the indian Eicher 12000,-- Euro, exepted the Belarus and the Deutz (60HP), are all in the 52 HP range. Most tractors in my area had 75-150 HP.

My wife is from Poland, and I know, that they try to establish chinese Brands there. The polnish Farmers don't like them, they prefer Ursus, Zetor or Belarus, and the big 4, Naturally.

I believe the reason why there are so much compacts and several Brands in the states is because of the country is so much bigger like mine, and some people had more land then around here, which they had to clear off, more money perhaps, too.

My Holder is a walkbehind, a EM 5 with a5 HP B&S engine. I know the Diesel Holder, but for gardening it's to big, I prefer the smaller ones, like my Agria 2400.

The expensivst tractor in Germany is the Unimog and the Fendt, I believe, but I gonna check this out.

Bernhard, Derichsweiler, Germany

Today's Featured Article - Show Coverage: Journey to Ankeny - by Cindy Ladage. We left Illinois on the first day of July and headed north and west for Ankeny, Iowa. Minus two kids, we traveled light with only the youngest in tow. As long as a pool was at the end of our destination she was easy to please unlike the other two who have a multitude of requirements to travel with mom and dad. Amana Colonies served as a respite where we ate a family style lunch that sustained us with more food than could reasonably fit into our ample physiques. The show at Ankeny ... [Read Article]
