So, I stop by the county seat with my little envelope in hand to get tags and license for this old tractor-hauling trailer. (I thought it was quite an accomplishment in itself, just roundin' up all the scrambled paperwork that was needed for the process). Anyway, the county treasurer says that I physically have to have the trailer at the courthouse because it originally came down out of South Dakota and that the sheriff needs to inspect it (charging me an extra $10 I might add) prior to their issuing tags. Obviously, the woman just does not understand that the trailer is parked 'bout a kazillion miles away out at the farm; it is so far out in the country that ya can't get there from here and I don't wanna waste the fuel to drag it clear back into town anyways. Additionally, I'm somewhat of an anti-social type and think this "$10 Inspection" is more than just a bit silly. Therefore, I ask her if she thought perhaps I could just slip the sheriff a couple of extra bucks and we could by-pass this goofy little inspection routine altogether. She mentioned something about "Sure, and he'll probably even buy your meals for the next 10 days". Wonder what the heck she meant by that? :>) Anybody know what the fine is for draggin' around a trailer without tags on it? :>) Ya'll have a good day now, Allan

Third Brush Generators - by Chris Pratt. While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery. I have picked up and attempted to read every auto and farm electrics book with no improvement in the situation. They all seem to start with a chapter entitled "Theory of Electricity". After a few paragraphs I usually close the book and go back to banging out dents. A good friend and I were recently discussing our tractor electrical systems when he stated "I figure it all comes back to applying Ohms Law". At this point
