Chop the straw. If you don't have a chopper or cutter, a lawn mower will work. Obviously be carfeul and cut small amounts so it doesn't bog up the mower. This chopped straw is perfect for poultry. Explore the possibility of using sawdust or shavings. You can still get it free from some places.
