I've used both. I can only take the fumes from a kerosene heater for about 1/2 hour before my eyes turn red and my head aches. Go propane, definitely. If you can find one, the square model with a built in squirrel cage fan seems the best at heating things up quickly. I sold all my kerosene models at a garage sale.
