Why can't things be kept simple?

When I was growing up we had a butaine ref. which kept things cold, and made ice cubes in the little trays. It lasted until we got electricity, then Dad bought a electric ref, that lasted for a lot of years. Now I have a GE refrigator 1 1/2 years old and it stopped working. I opened up a couple of access panels, and all I could see was circuit boards, and lots of wires. All I can do now is, reinstall the covers, and call the repair man. I can repair almost any part of my tractors, but when it comes to electronics I'm stopped. Not having a good day. Stan
