Hi all. I've just inherited approx. 150 acres of tillable ground in SEIA and would like to get some input on what kinda of equipment a guy would need to disc/chisel plow and plant for beans and corn. (Same crops being cash rented with now) What HP tractor would you be looking at? How big of a disc etc? How many row planter etc? I'm trying to put together a 5 year plan to be able to start doing it myself. Do you think it's better to own harvesting eqpt or work something out with the current tenant on him to do the harvesting portion of it?
Do you all know of any books that can tell a guy just how much a guy needs to have as far as helping a guy calculate fertilizer/seeds etc?
I know alot of questions but I've been wanting to get into this and have a tractor that can also do some haying but could be transported without a semi...
Thanks in advance all... I'm still trying to decide if I can tackle this endeveor...
