Trailer wiring

This isn't an IH question, but I know you guys will be able to help. Just got a trailer with electric brakes. Whenever the electrical connecter is plugged in, the brakes lock up. All other electrical functions appear to be normal. The trailer has a six-pin connector about 1" diameter with five pin holes around the outside and one in the middle. The truck has a seven pin connector (which I've been told is standard nowadays). I have a diagram showing what each blade connection on the truck's connector controls, and I used a continuity meter to trace where each connection on the truck side of the adapter goes to on the trailer side of the adapter. Thanks for any help!
