Your carb was made for kerosene or distillate, rather than gas. Doesn't mean it won't run on gas. The gas carb has a fixed jet with a plug in place of the T adjustment. The top screw is the idle adjustment. When you get the float set right, turn the T handle in until you lose rpm and the turn it out until it runs smooth. To adjust the float you have to dissasemble the carb, and turn the throttle body upside down, From the top of the gasket to the top of the float the measurement it 1 5/32 inches. This is a critical measurement on the models with the fixed jet, as they tend to run rich. Since you have a T jet, you may be able to fine tune it.
