IH 484 blowing and dripping oil from crankcase bre

I've had my '79 484 for about 6 months. It's showing 3400 hrs on a working tractormeter.

I noted when I got it that after a few minutes running it starts blowing 'fumes' and dripping a bit of oil from the crakcase breather. After adding about 40 hrs doing mowing the fumes are the same, but the oil is now dripping faster at about 1 drip/second.

The fumes are not just water vapour as they smell oily hang around too long, but don't look like just oil smoke.

I'm planning on renewing the pistons/sleeves. Is there anyhting else I should be looking at?
