white-blue smoke from diesel TD-6

TD-6 engine starts on gas, runs good, when I switch to diesel, it runs fine, exhaust is clear for the first hour or two, even under heavy load. Then it will gradually start to smoke a lot, white with a tinge of blue. Temperature is fine. If I switch to gas, exhaust is clear.If I switch back to diesel it smokes. What is the cause? Thanks.
