I posted a few days ago with some pictures to determine my wide front mfg. Some noticed that the wishbone was tied into the (bolster?) and bolted to the front at the steering housing. I know nothing of what it is supposed to look like, but it explains why the 4 bolts holding the entire front end to the tractor have broken and stripped over the years. Both times drilled and tapped 1 size up.
I have bought a loader and need to install it. My fear is the weak front axle. Growing up as a kid I remember Dad always telling me to be careful the old Farmall has a weak front axle. Clearly this is a home made front axle mounting aparatus and needs to be braced. But to where?
This looks like a good place.
As well as behind the oil pan on the (bellhousing?).
Can a new Schwartz be purchased from somewhere? Just add some steel to mine? Ideas?
