I would say that that is where it came from . As when they get slamed around because of the clutch and dump valve being out of adjustment it works on the shifter leverand the keyway and the pin will shear off and you will now have a three pice pin , sometimes one pice will fall out of one side and some time both outer pies will fall out leaving the one pice still in the shifter . Usually you will also need to do some repair work to the reverse shift lever as the keyway will be starting to get loose as well . So if you have never done this before and extra set of hand will help when tearing down and going back together . Also while you have the ranger top cover off NOW would be a good time to upgrade the park loc to the NEW style that is used on the 86 seires , LOT SAFER.
