First, thanks Glen and Dave for your ideas on the starting. I've got it cranking, but my battery still dies. I've removed the battery cables with it running and put a volt meter on the battery lead at the starter. 14 volts there. When I move the negative lead I get a small spark. Is this indication of frame short? I've tried checking my wiring, getting nowhere fast. Also, sometimes, remember twice, the battery seems to be groaning down, then it suddenly picks up, turns over faster and fires. Could ampmeter cause problems where alt goes in or battery/starter out?
