Time the mag by loosening the bolts. Turn the top of the mag toward the engine to retard it. Crank the engine to line up the timing mark with the pointer. Snug the bolts up until you can just turn the mag, then advance it by bringing the top toward you until you hear the impulse coupling snap. Tighten the bolts. Check it anytime by turning the engine slowly until No. 1 or No. 4 are coming up on TDC and stop when the mag snaps. Timing marks should be in alignment. Keep the mag off (grounded) so you don't get bit!
