i put a brand new 300 dollar carb on the 49 cub and after slight tweeking to obtain highest idle speed, we went mowing, it did run better, but after about a hour and a half or so, i hit a real thick patch of bermuda grass about 25 feet long it started faltering, i swung out of the row while it was still spitting and sputteriing, but it stopped again, chugging down to a stop, none of the controles made any difference, choke or throttle or kill switch in the chugging,the thing is litteraly running out of gas! i will admit i was probably getting all it had to offer power wise, after it stopped and i mentioned a few choise words over it, i tried it, it fired right up and ran just fine, when i left the feild it pulled a almost 45 degree slope about 200 feet long, never missed a beat, but the pto was not engauged, any ideas, i checked fuel flow after it stopped, it had good flow, so the sediment bolw isnt stopped up, [ the glass is crystal cleartoo] am i juat asking too much of a cub? or am i overlooking something, the new carb is just like the original ih one and the mower is the ih 42 inch so its all made to work togeather, suposedly now one more thing in case it helps, after i got done in this feild i had to do some weedeating, when that was done, i was worn out, and not thinking of just everything, i climbed on the cub and fired it up didnt remember id turned the gas off, it only ran about 20 seconds before stopping, thats not much fuel, i know the float bowl on a cub if tiny but 20 seconds worth of gas at idle?
