I have a Ferguson TO20 with a positive grounded electrical system. I've been told to jumpstart it with my truck by connecting the (+) post of my truck battery to the engine block of the tractor, and the (-) post of my truck battery to the starter on the tractor. I got a spark on the starter, but it didn't turn over. A friend told me that despite the fact that the tractor is positive ground, I should have grounded the (-) from my truck battery, and touched the (+) from my truck to the tractor starter. Unlike me, he's pretty smart about tractors, but even he admits that he and everyone he's talked to really don't understand how a positive ground system works. Any answer to part one of my post, and explanation to part two (using small words) would be greatly appreciated.
