Bernhard, The IHC tractors are less money around here as well. I guess it's because they are sort of orphans, like an Allis or an Oliver. Whenever I need a part for one of my three John Deere's, the dealer is only 4 miles away. That's nice. Still, I'd like to get an old H or M IHC Farmall some day, as that was the first tractor I learned to drive -- 40 some years ago. I'd expect to pay 1,000 to 2,000 for one in good shape. One that is newer, like yours, would probably be over 3,000. If I got a new JD of comparable power to one of my old ones, it would cost about $25,000. At those 0% or reduced interest rates they're offering, why not buy it on credit. They only Oriental tractor dealer around here is selling Kubotas -- and he seems to sell a lot of them. There is a guy selling Mahindra tractors, made in India. It's an old IHC design, probably similar to your IHC. They have 3 year warranties and are a lot less money than a John Deere. I don't think I'd touch a Chinese tractor at this point either. They're cheap -- but who knows if it's going to last. Is your new Holder a walk behind model? My cousins in Schlaitdorf have an old 1 cylinder Holder Diesel. They keep saying come and visit! But now you're saying it's very expensive in Swabia. Wonder why that is. That's OK about the Porsche prices. I'd guess they're way expensive just because of the name. I know those Swabian cars from Stuttgart are way expensive over here. Are the Mannheim Deeres the expensive tractors in Germany as well? Steve

Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
