Hydraulic Pump Shaft Seal Keeps Blowing Out

I have a '59 AC D-14, with a Henry loader/backhoe attached. I recently replaced a cartridge relief valve that was causing the backhoe to lose power. I now have all kinds of power, but the hydraulic pump shaft seal keeps blowing out when I'm in the middle of digging out some very tough stumps. What could be causing this ? I replaced the seal...it lasted about 20 minutes & blew. I replaced it again, this time I polished the shaft with emery cloth to remove some very fine scores. It lasted about 1 hour...fluid came pouring out under load. PLEASE, I NEED HELP !
