you got a tractor. it's old. you put a lot of time into it. all of a sudden there's oil fouliing the plugs. but the exhaust is burning clean with no smoke. compression is 80 across the board. oil pressure cold is 30 but running hot it drops to 12-15. it's an old 9n engine. is it worth hauling to a shop and having a ring and valve, perhaps sleeves and piston job done? i'm not interested in a return on my investment, but the dang thing has cost more money and time than it is owrth in an outright sale. its sort of like i've gone past the point of no return. i know what i will probalby do and bite the bullet and lay out the money, suck it up, live for a little while on peanut butter and baked beans...but am i crazy to redo a tractor right, and get the engine upto running standard specifictions? has anyone ever gone too far into a project only to feel like you're slowly sinking, but you can't go back either because it's so close to being done and done right? i'm curious if i am going nutsoid. pmt
