I was searching the classified ads on this web page and run across a Nice looking Farmall A . I sent the seller an E mail and he called me back., a Mr. Jay Christianson from Alice , No, Dakota. He said it was restored and that I would not be disappointed. That should have been a clue. I asked a few more questions, and the hung up , I called him back a few times and then I decided to buy the tractor. He told me he didnt do anything mechanical, but rebuiled the governor and service it. My wife , as usual thought I was crazy and didn't want anything to do with this. We live in northern California. Anyway I got to Bismark before it started to snow real heavy. and by the time I got to alice It let up a little , I look at the tractor real quick like and proceeded to load it up before the snow got real heavy again. It didnt smoke and the tires had a lot of treat except one one really weather checked, and the wrong size. anyway when I got it home . the paint looked ok but, the coverage was lousy, the never painted underneath, never masked or took anything off , like all the electrical wires, the carbueator, generator, which did not work. The temp gauge did not work or oil pressure gauge I drained the oil in the engine, and it looked like it had not been changed for 10 years. I got a lot of water, same in the tranny and axles. All he did was stand back 2 feet and shoot some paint on it and called it restored. the point is in my book this is not restored. I paid for a # 1 and got a # 3. and he should not have sold it as retored. I take most the blame for not taking the time to look it over real good, before I loaded it on the trailer, and taking someones word. But I trust people to tell the truth. I just want all you folks to know if you ever buy a tractor from this fellow beware and look it over real good, because you can't take his word. there was a few other thing he lied about, but that is a another story.I feel real bad but I been through this before, I love old tractors and will more than likely buy more, But I think Mr Christiansaon just sells them for profit and could give a darn about the enjoyment or history of old Iron,I did e mail him and told him all of this . and asked for a partial refund but he says "as is" thanks for reading this, Just my thoughts.

12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
