I bought the alternator (10 SI) and diodes recommended on this websight and am dumbfounded how to mount it on my 140. Removing the distributor front bracket (the one bolted with 2 bolts to the engine front) would require removing the front sheetmetal, hoses, etc. This would allow making a custom bracket but is a lot of work. Another way is to hacksaw 1 1/4" from the alternator aluminum mounting shroud and then mount it in front of the existing bracket. This would line things up but would only leave 3/4" of the shroud which is 2" wide now. Any advice on the best way to mount the alternator would be appreciated.
