A little PUZZLE for you: for Red, and my other friends!

Here's a little puzzle for you: my Ford 600 (this could have happened with a Farmall as well) wouldn't shut off, when the switch was turned off, but it also wouldn't crank without the switch on. So, I killed it with the choke until I had time to take a look. After a couple of dead batteries, and a new one!!! from leaving the switch on, I decided that I had time to take a look. Figured it was a switch, so I replaced the switch with a new one, But -- no change!! Remember, it would not quit running when the switch was turned off, and would not crank unless the switch was on. Puzzled me for several days until I woke up one Saturday morning about 4:30, and it hit me like a bolt!! Fixed it with no problem. What was it?? I'll answer tomorrow. RKS
