I'm listening - don't recall hearing about compression yet from your original post. I'm beginning to think burned valve, which usually allows the engine to crank and run rough but might just keep it from cranking also. And a burned valve in combo with poor rings and engine wear can act over time like you say. They don't live forever. Sounds like the fuel/carb, mag/timing are not the problem. You have a good question about compression/spark - but the other way around - that is, can you have the spark and no compression? Answer is yes, so let's check the compression, and come back. When you do, either stay at your posting or give us a reference to your page number. Someone may want to help but won't go back and find the info from your original post. RKS
