Nuts and bolts question

A while back I was web shopping for square-head bolts and you all helped me get straight on needing at least a grade 5 if not 8 for bolting my rims to the wheels (a SuperC and a BN). I've found some 5s and 8s in the right sizes but there's no mention of grading on nuts. Two questions. Are the nuts commonly available in different grades? If not and the nuts are grade 2(Lordknows, I've got a mess of them!), will it make any difference in my application? I'd think the softer nut might give me a little better jam when I tighten them down, and I suspect the shear strength of the bolt is more critical than the lateral tension. Am I thinking straight? Thanks for any help. Scotty
