460 D Wide Front End Sits Higher??

I am looking at purchasing a Farmall 460D. It has a wide front end. The front end of the tractor sits higher than the rear. I ask the seller and he stated they were made this way to allow the fast hitch equipment to enter into the ground easier. Is this true? Or are the front tires too large and the back too small. Any information on this would be helpful. Thanks.
