I have a Farmall H with a Front-End loader which has one-way cylinders on it. Hydraulic valve has four ports on it: 1 Port In, 1 Port to tank, 1 Port marked A, and 1 Port marked B. Port A is connected to the FEL and Port B is connected to a remote quick-attach at the rear of the tractor.
When I move the hydraulic lever to the up position, the FEL lifts as it should. When I move the hydraulic lever to the down position, the engine really takes a hit (bogs, pulls down, works even harder than when lifting something heavy with the FEL), but the FEL does lower. I don"t have any implements or test equipment to test the remote at the rear, so I don"t know if I'm getting pressure there or not.
Is it possible that this valve is made for dual-acting cylinders and has been hooked up strangely? That whenever I press down, the pump is attempting to send pressure to the rear remote but since there is nothing attached, the pressure relief is kicking in? And that's why the engine is working so hard? If that's the case, am I hurting the tractor running it this way? If that isn"t the case, can anyone explain this?
