I have a 1966 Model 806 diesel that will not start. We replaced the fuel line between the primary and secondary fuel filters and the line that connects the secondary filter to the diesel injector pump. Prior to that, the tractor started and ran good. Since replacing these lines, the tractor will not start. Fuel is getting to the pump but nothing seems to be coming out of the pump. We had the pump rebuilt. The company that rebuilt the pump said nothing was really wrong with it, but it had a lot of residue inside that needed to be cleaned out. We put the pump back on the tractor but it still will not start. It still seems that fuel is not being pumped through. When we took the pump back to the company that rebuilt it, they put it on a test stand and showed that it did work. We have cleaned the fuel tank, cleaned the steel fuel lines, cleaned the return lines, and added fresh fuel. We tried adding air pressure to the fuel tank. Nothing seems to help. The engine will only run while ether is being sprayed into the air intake. The person who rebuilt the pump said there must be air in the system. We have all six lines loose at the injectors to bleed air. He said to keep spraying ether to keep the engine running long enough to purge the air but we are concerned that too much ether may cause other damage. Does anyone have a suggetion about something else that could be the problem? A month ago, this tractor ran great. Now it won't run at all.
