The charging system in this '48 Cub 6v pos. ground has never worked since I've owned it.(Has Mag. ignition) The previous owner at some point had put a regulator in in place of the Cut Out relay-don't know if this set up ever worked. I'd read in a previous post that its ok to use a regulator instead of the cutout. I found that if I grounded the F term. it would charge, so I figured the regulator was bad or maybe the wrong one. Went to CaseIH to check out price of both parts,Cut out and Regulator. Was told the Cut out relay part # was changed to a regulator part# anyway. Got another Regulator put it on and same thing-no Charge. Have it wired as follows ... A on Generator. to Gen. term. on Regulator... F on Generator. to F term on Regulator... Battery lead from Ammeter to Bat. term. on Regulator. Nothing connected to L Term on Regulator and Resistor lead to light switch disconnected. Bottom of regulator has "6pos" on it. I polarized the generator when I was done(Jumper "Gen. term to Batt. term"), have tried a jumper from ground to the Regulator base, and hooked up a test light so it was powered by the L term, still no dice, yet will charge if F term is grounded. What am I missing? Am about ready to chuck the regulator. and find a Cut out somewhere and try it. Thanks in advance for any help. Applogize for the long post. George
