Was looking through here and read the Magnum vs 5088. Im trying to decide on a 86 series or 88. Im a rancher. So just use it for haying and feeding in the winter. Used a magnum and 86 series. Magnum is like a cadalac compared to 1486. Im mainly wondering about feul economy and repairs. Ive heard that 88 needs trans update kit and the hyd pump is just like the 80 and 81 86 series which is expensive if it goes out. Otherwise them 2 are basicly the same kind of tractor other than the soposedly syncronized trans. Never dirven one yet and just wondered if there was much difference between them except for the 2spd thing. Driven a 3288 which is a glorified 86? Hopefully its better than that. Is the reverse air flow a plus? The 32 Ive driven I really couldnt tell, but I was just pulling a silage wagon. Basicly is it worth ponying up the extra dough for an 88? They are hard to find in good shape so Im guessing thats a positave? I bale with an 806 now...no heat no A/C. If bailing with the wind and the wind is faster than you can drive your black by the end of the day! My eyes dont open up in the morning either very well! Thought about waiting and getting high hr Magnum or Maxum or MX but dont have the cash and have been wanting to update for 3 or 4 years know. Hope this wasnt to long. Friend just told me about this the other day and havent been able to read any bodys origanal posts...so just flying by the seat of my pants here. Any info would be great and if I used up more than my fair share of space you can rip me a new one and call me an idiot! Thanks Gary

Listening to Your Tractor - by Curtis Von Fange. Years ago there was a TV show about a talking car. Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
